NYC - Negotiate Your Career Course for MBA candidates, vol. 3
On April 13th there was a great event happening at INSEAD Campus in Singapore - AI Forum.
Negotiate Your Career (NYC) is one of the most successful electives. It showcased newly written cases and immersed students in role plays on promotion, maternity leave, expatriation, repatriation, and C-level negotiations.
Ankit Kedia, Eric Uhlmann, Rodrigo Gouveia-Oliveira, Horacio Falcao - I appreciate so much the opportunity to give back. It was my pleasure to join the course for the third time! I love sharing my executive search point of view with future executives! The discussion about the bad experience with recruiters was a blast! 🤓
My reflection on the most important points discussed is:
- Take control of your happiness by getting clarity about your Dream (an idealistic picture of what your life should look like), the same for your Dream Job, AND, do not forget about the work-life balance.
- With remote work, networking became a key in everything - from your job application getting noticed through internal referrals to getting promoted. Build your relationships with the stakeholders, let them know about your aspirations and clarify the criteria to get there. Communication is the key. Manage your own career. No one else will.
- Use all the available resources to collect the data and prepare for your career negotiations, e.g. your network (INSEAD connections, internal referrals, industry experts, work with a coach like INSEAD EMC Coaching Collective) to help you get clarity.
